Eye Research Foundation of San Diego supports promising clinical research to prevent, treat, and cure blinding eye diseases. We collaborate with vision care leaders to accelerate the development process in order to meet the urgent need for sight-saving treatments. Our dedicated experts believe that independent and private funding, free from the obligations of public contracts, provides the most efficient path to effective treatments.

Working to Cure Blinding Eye Diseases

It is estimated that 1.3 million American people are blind and another 2.9 million Americans suffer from low vision.1 A significant portion of partial to complete vision loss is due to eye diseases for which there is no cure. Eye Research Foundation of San Diego is dedicated to finding effective treatments to preserve eyesight for people with blinding eye diseases. We focus on retinal degenerative diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa, which is a rare genetic disorder that affects approximately 1 in every 4,000 people.2
