Eye Research Foundation of San Diego is dedicated to providing funding and support to established experts and emerging talent in vision care with the goal of developing sight-restoring eye care solutions. Founded by leading ophthalmologist David J. Schanzlin, M.D., Eye Research Foundation of San Diego is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. How We Help
We take an integrated approach to creating paths for growth and advances in vision care.
Funding Research
We provide funding for cutting-edge research initiatives that focus on life-changing eye care treatments. Current projects include Optogenetics to help find a vision restoring treatment for Retinitis Pigmentosa.
Supporting Resident Research
Our scholarship program at select Universities grants and awards to residents with promising research ideas.
Incentivizing Innovation
We support online training programs for interns, residents, and fellows as well as continuing education initiatives for ophthalmologists and optometric practitioners.
